God is love. Love the world.

John 3:16 is a familiar verse. It is endearing to Christians because it’s clear that God loves us… and He demonstrates His love by giving His only Son to die for our salvation.
But the verse isn’t just about me or those sitting next to me in church… or those belonging to other Christian churches.
“… So loved the world” it states. When God sent His Son to be our Savior, He had his eyes on the whole world – those in Israel, Africa, Europe, Asia… those in the past, the present, the future. He desires that all be saved and experience the truth of His love, mercy, and grace (1 Tim. 2:4).
During this Valentine/Love month, realize again God’s great love for you; and also realize that His love extends to people all over this planet… those who know Him and those who are still lost. As His dearly loved children, He calls you and me to love the world as well.

That love includes prayers, it involves supporting missions that share the love of Jesus… and even means going to places all over the world (both near and far) to share the Good News that John 3:16 proclaims. This month I will be in Constitucion, Chile, hosting a team from Good Shepherd Lutheran in Circle Pines, MN. They are going out into “the world” on their first mission trip to partner with church leaders and to let many children and families know that “God is love!”
