….from now on you will be fishing for men (Luke 5:10)
Up here in the Midwest, folks are preparing their boats and fishing gear for the upcoming angler season. As I was putting my boat in the water, I was reminded of my recent trip down to the east coast of Guatemala and our visit to a small seaside village near a church and school that we support.
The villagers earn their meager income as fishermen, casting their nets to catch a variety of seafood: fish, crab, lobster, sardines. A great catch is a blessing to those doing the casting!
When Peter cast His nets in response to our Lords request, he didn’t expect many (or any) fish; However, Jesus was in charge of the catch… and it was bountiful!
As we spend our time as “fishermen,” sharing the love of Jesus with children through Christian education, we can easily forget that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the ones who determine the response and outcome of our efforts. His catch is always miraculous.
Thank you for all of you who continue to support our LeadaChild efforts through your prayers and support… the nets are being cast and God is at work in the lives of many children and their families.
