Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while (Mark 6:31)
I am currently in Florida… the ultimate get-away destination during spring break; of course, it’s not the most ‘desolate’ place to rest a while as thousands invade the warm climate and beaches during the month of March… and yet, it’s a great place to retreat from the cold and daily rigor of work and school.
While I am here for the purpose of visiting several friends of LeadaChild, it’s refreshing to take a day or two away from the regular schedule to rest, reflect, and renew.
Rest: Our minds and physical bodies need time to rest. It’s a daily design, a weekly sabbath design, and a special get-away design that God has built into His beneficial creation.
Reflect: Taking time to look back at all that God provides for us – especially His grace, forgiveness, provisions, and protection – is a personal, transformative exercise while we rest in Him.
Renew: During this rest, the Holy Spirit is always at work, opening our hearts to deepen our trust in our faithful God and to step out with a greater focus and courage to accomplish the work of building His kingdom in the places where He calls us to serve.
Our Lord took the disciples away on retreat in order to rest, reflect, and renew; they were being prepared to observe the sacrificial, redemptive work of Christ and then step out with great courage to establish the Christian Church on earth.
Our kingdom-building place to serve in LeadaChild is found all around the world in humble schools and educational enrichment programs run by faithful teachers and pastors… a most precious mission! As part of our team (through your prayers, gifts, and even visits to sites) take time to rest, reflect and renew as God uses you to advance the Kingdom!
