During my trip to Guatemala at the beginning of November, I had the chance to taste a new dish: Fiambre. It’s prepared by several family members on November 1st to celebrate the gift of family (past and present). They share in the preparing, the serving, and the enjoying of this diverse delicacy.
November is a time of family and feasting. Here in the states, we gather around the time of Thanksgiving. We thank God for the abundant amount of food placed before us and the gift of family surrounding us.
In a greater way, the children of God also celebrate during this final month in the church year. We thank God for His ongoing provisions, we remember the “family” members who have gone on before us and are now part of the Church Triumphant… and we serve one another, enjoy each other’s fellowship around a blessed “meal,” and we prepare for the coming of our Lord!
May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving as you rejoice in the bountiful provisions coming from the hand of God.
