Reclaiming Passion

Satan and our current culture have used the word “passion” to lure people away from the truth and into sin and darkness. Any of today’s popular magazines and news articles relating to passion has the intent of pulling individuals away from a closer walk with our Heavenly Father.

Yet, it should be just the opposite… and I propose we reclaim the idea of passion for the

Church and the children of God. We refer to the season of Lent as the “passion story of Christ.” It is rightly named because during this time we reflect on the heart of God and His incredible love He has for us and all people. We read of Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem, His suffering before Pilate and the false accusers, and His death on the cross. He did this to save us from our sin; He did this because His love is unstoppable. God is love… He is the definition of “passionate.”

As God’s children, our hearts are stirred when we consider Christ perfect life, sacrificial death, and glorious resurrection. His passion moves us to be passionate toward others. “We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19). His love moves us out to care for our neighbor and share the Good News of salvation found in Christ.

Clear examples of hearts moved by the Christ’s love can be seen all around us. A passionate couple who have been instrumental in the Leadachild ministry over the last eight years are David and Lori Savings. Their leadership, sacrifices, care for children, and encouragement to fellow Christians in the states (and around the world) has been a shining example of 1 John 4:19. They have experienced the love of God … and have passed it out to thousands. They have lived out our theme this year: blessed to be a blessing!

If you have the opportunity in April, join us in Kansas City on Thursday, April 20 at our LeadaChild Gala Event. During our gala, we will be saying thank you to David and Lori for their service to the ministry. Beth Eubanks will also be stepping down from her administrative role after many years of service behind the scenes, and we want to thank her as well. We’ll provide a complimentary meal and featuring the LeadaChild 360 LIVE exhibit. Every attendee will have the opportunity to travel through five LeadaChild education sites in this virtual experience. You can register by clicking here.

If you cannot make the event, send in a donation to the ministry in honor of our faithful workers. Great service calls for recognition; your gifts will be a great blessing… and another example of hearts moved by our “passionate” Lord and Savior!

Blessed to be a blessing,
